Westhoughton will mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day with a special community celebration at the town’s cricket club on Saturday 3rd May 2025.

Hosted at Westhoughton Cricket Club on St George’s Oval, the event is being supported by Westhoughton Town Council and will include a parade, live entertainment, activities, and a warm invitation for families to bring their own picnics.

Gates open from 1.40pm, with the official start and parade beginning at 2.00pm. Entry is completely free.

Visitors are encouraged to dress up in vintage or themed outfits, with organisers noting that fancy dress is welcome. A picnic-style afternoon is planned, with attendees advised to bring blankets or chairs and non-alcoholic refreshments. No alcohol will be permitted on the cricket club grounds.

As part of the celebration, guests can also pre-order free tickets. The event promises music, entertainment and a chance for the community to come together in tribute and celebration.
